Wildfire
Perspiration drips down my back
The flames of self-hate grow high
I trace the outline where pain left scars
And wonder if this is goodbye
Plans for self-harm burn brightly
White hot, they sear my skin
I'm thrown into a raging furnace
Scorched by voices within
Melting, my options grow fluid
As waves of heat exhaust
My anger blazes indefinitely
This fire has come at high cost
Heat stroke leaves me half delirious
With rage I inflict inside
But as my fury settles to smoldering
I begin to turn the tide
Waves of quiet fill my head
Submerging painful thoughts
Leaving me to rest tonight
I've found the strength I sought
