The Rodent's Wheel
I have HIM on my brain,
so close,
running on a hamster wheel,
making all the images of what he did
go around and around
Faster.
He marked his territory.
He's been there my whole life;
I just didn't see him until now.
I thought I'd left him
Behind me,
but I didn't. He came along
for the ride,
taking over the wheel
and steering me
Straight into flashbacks,
Straight into
His arms again.
I try running away, but
My legs don't work.
I can't move.
And he is there, waiting for me,
for one more ride,
Even if
it's only
in my mind.
