In a World of Panic

A scream piercing a hole
in my eardrum
catches me off guard.
I feel the faraway beat of
Lungs frantically sucking in oxygen
Like it was water after a week in the desert...
Breathe in Breathe out In Out
FASTER!
Pounding, hard enough to break
the patio glass door,
vibrates me, toes to head,
but no one's there.
It's just blood
Trapped in a cell
Trying to escape.
Thoughts crash wildly in my head,
Tiny kamikazes cloaked in darkness.
I fall victim to the noise.
