A Better Way

Fiercely fighting a war to survive
I can't afford to lose
There's more at stake than just this life
It's time for me to choose
Every day I must face
Decisions I have made
My faith and feelings clash
My resolve starts to fade
Struggling to win in the here and now
Might buy me another day
But the battle will be lost somehow
Without a better way
I know my Lord and Savior is
The Way, the Truth, the Life
I know He calls those who believe
To walk in His pure Light
I know He doesn't want me
To face this by myself
I know He will empower me
When I most need His help
My choices are quite firmly set -
To hurt myself again
Or stop all this torment
Walk away from this sin
I can't profess that I believe
And not obey His Word
I have to finally concede
And cease all my self-hurt
Perfect love casts out fear
Gives strength for one more day
In turning to embrace the Lord
It never is too late
